School of Medical Sciences Signed MOU with Korea Brain Research Institute (KBRI)

The School of Medical Sciences, University of Fukui (UF), and the Korea Brain Science Institute (KBRI) concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and held a signing ceremony at the Matsuoka Campus. This MOU is expected to promote joint research in brain imaging research between the two institutions, new research proposals such as comparative studies between Republic of Korea and Japan, and researcher mobility.

KBRI is a research institute based in Daegu, Republic of Korea, and conducts research and support in the field of the brain sciences. UF has been promoting exchanges with KBRI, including joint research by Professor Kosaka Hirotaka of the Department of Neuropsychiatry.

On August 8, Dr. Suh Pann-Ghill, President of KBRI, Dr. Minyoung Jung, Senior Researcher, and Mr. Sangyeon Kim, Director of the International Cooperation, visited UF and met with Dean Fujieda Shigeharu of the School of Medical Sciences to sign the MOU. Dean Fujieda said, “I’m very happy to conclude the MOU with the prestigious KBRI. I hope that our research will be greatly enhanced.” Dr. Suh also commented, ”Today, we have agreed to the MOU to share infrastructure for joint research. I am sure that this is an important step toward a great future for both of us.”

To commemorate the signing of the MOU, Dr. Suh gave a lecture on “Communication in Life: Based on Phospholipase C-Mediated Signaling.” Students and faculty members attended the lecture and learned about signal transduction research of human brain and made proposals for the future of biomedical research.

UF will continue to promote active mutual exchange and research cooperation with our partner institutions in and outside Japan.
